Freedom of Speech, Why It Is Worth Going To War Over

Freedom of Speech, Why It Is Worth Going To War Over

With the left trying to strip constitutional rights away from people, first they came for the guns, now we see governors telling Churches they can’t meet, choirs can’t sing, we knew it was only a matter of time until speech came under the same assault.

Much of this has to do with political correctness, but it also goes deeper then this, many feel that if your speech is not in tune with their core beliefs, then your right to share should be silenced.

We see Antifa marching in the streets, if you call for support of the police, of law and order, you are called a Fascist and attacked. We are now told by the left that patriotism makes you a traitor, and turning on the nation that houses and protects you is a sign of true patriotism.

Speech is to be silenced unless it adheres to the demands of the left, if you won’t, they will protest inside and outside where you are speaking to silence you.

When protests don’t work threats, intimidation and attacks soon follow. Being cowards this is never done by a single person, these people have to show up in mass, they find strength by attacking in numbers.

As time as gone by we are not only being told what we are to say, now we are told how we must think. Challenge their demands we are told we are racist, bigoted, homophobic, Islamophobic, or whatever flavor of the day they have that they can throw at you, you must never question.

People who believe differently, if you have a platform, then your platform must be attacked, we see people like TuckerHannityLouder With Crowder, ourselves come under ceaseless attacks, others, like Tucker find their home address given out so leftist goons can show up at their home and threaten their family. The demand, “Do as I say or else!”

You have Trump who is accused of antisemitism, while the people ignore that his daughter and grandchildren are Jewish, not to mention he has been the best friend Israel has ever had in the White House. Radicals attack people like Ben Shapiro and accuse him of being a Fascist; he is an orthodox Jew.

This brings up the other tenant of the Liberal Left; when you can find something to accuse of, make it up, even if it is the opposite of the truth. If you say it enough, people will start to believe it. Others who are too lazy, or don’t care about the fact, they won’t bother with research, take it as gospel truth.

These attacks then stem off towards anyone that supports Trump. You have stars saying if anyone supports Trump, they are a bigotracisthomophobica traitor, anything you can think of. Yet, they claim they are virtuous for resisting him, calling for the burning of the cities if we don’t vote the way they demand.

No longer are we allowed to think, we have seen in Portland the burning of books considered anti-progressive, even the bible was seen being tossed into the fire. By erasing history, the left seems to think this will make things better. They never seem to realize that all they are doing is dooming people to repeat history.

We have representatives saying that we need to stop teaching history, millennials’ are saying they don’t want to learn about WW2, it makes them uncomfortable.

Increasingly we are being told that we are just to shut up and listen to what we are told, then go out and do it, but one has to wonder, would civil rights have advanced if people like Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, Jr. had done as they were told and not exercised their free speech?

The party that used to be on the forefront with the protection of free speech are now the leaders in trying to strip it away from us, one has to wonder, how much longer are we going to put up with this?

We have the freedom of assembly to voice our opinions, we have the second amendment to protect ourselves while we are doing this, the freedom of faith is what gives many the strength to stand up for what they believe, and our vote is how we ensure we are represented by people who support this right.

Speech is not there to make your comfortable; it is there to make you uncomfortable, to question what you believe and force you to define this belief for yourself, to expose you to the light of questioning, sometimes that is all that is needed, shining the light of truth on wrongful thought.

Speech is not protected to keep what you like, the protection is given to protect what you don’t like, what makes you uncomfortable.

To strip any of this away takes away from the “American” experience, this is something our founding father fought for, what people before us went to war over, and what I and others find equally important as it used to be, something we will fight for before we ever allow this stripped from us.
