Senator Joe Manchin Tells How He Stopped The IRS Plan to Snoop on Americans

Great news! Remember that proposal from Joe Biden that would have required your bank to funnel your data to the IRS if your account had at least $600 in it? Senator Joe Manchin administered euthanasia to it.

Listen to the account of his conversation with the Biden:

“Do you understand how messed up that is?” – Senator Joe Manchin

Senator Cynthia Lummis ripped into Biden’s Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen for her support of the proposal: “Banks do not work for the IRS. This is invasive of privacy. Wyoming’s people literally will find alternatives to traditional banks to thwart IRS access to their personal information, not because they’re trying to hide anything, but because they are not willing to share everything.” She begins speaking about this in the video below at the one-minute mark:

Notes from the Editor

While I am indeed grateful to Senator Joe Manchin for his willingness to stand up to government increased encroachment of US citizen’s privacy, but I must ask, why was his stance needed in the first place, and where was the GOP?

Further, why aren’t more Democrats outraged by this, or have they become so mentally deficient that they don’t care anymore? Are they willing to hand over all freedoms, even the right of privacy, to the government, all for the comfort they feel they are getting?

We need to be pushing the government to pull back, stop taking state rights they have no business with, and to back off our rights; instead, we seem to be rushing in the opposite direction, and other than a few vocal people, not much else is said by this, why is that? If our leaders are happy with this infringement, maybe we should start looking towards new leaders who will not stand for it.
